5 If you need to upgrade any piece of software on your EME module, first
determine whether the module has the necessary CPU RAM. In the
module all verbose
following:
If the field shows the number 20, you can proceed to upgrade the
EME software.
If the field shows the number 8, you need to increase the CPU RAM
before you can upgrade the software. You must replace the 4 MB
DRAM card in each EME module with a 16 MB DRAM card. After you
install it, it combines with 4 MB of permanent RAM to yield the
required 20 MB. To order a 16 MB DRAM card (order number
3CB9EE), contact your network supplier or 3Com representative.
Before you upgrade the RAM, read the related cautions in the section
titled "Prerequisites for Software Installation" in this chapter. Installation
instructions are provided in the packaging of the 16 MB card.
6 After you have upgraded the CPU RAM on the EME module, upgrade the
its software as necessary, following the procedures provided in this
chapter:

7 Verify that the software on the EME module has been upgraded, then
upgrade the software on switching modules (in any order), following the
