Upgrading Layer 2
Switching Modules
to Release 3.0.5
I
NSTALLATION
This section explains how to download software release 3.0.5 to a Layer 2
Switch Fabric Module or Layer 2 Switching Module that is currently
loaded with any release previous to 3.0.5.
This process assumes that:
You have already upgraded the software on the EME modules in your
system to the release numbers noted in Table 1 on page 11.
You have downloaded (from the 3Com Web site) the appropriate
Release 3.0.5 images in a TFTP server directory (usually named "tftp"
or "tftpboot"). For the filenames to download, consult Table 1.
1 At the EME prompt, enter the following command:
cb9000> download module <slot>.1 all_image <server address>
<filename>
Where
is the slot number of the module,
<slot>
the IP address of the TFTP server where the software image resides, and
is the filename of the software for the particular module
<filename>
that you want to upgrade.
The software filename has the extension .all because it includes several
images in one file.
The filename that you enter may include a path to the directory within
the file server if this directory is not the file server's default directory.
2 Repeat Step 1 for each Layer 2 module in the chassis.
3 For downloads to take effect on these modules, you must reset them.
To reset all modules simultaneously, at the system prompt, enter:
cb9000> reset module all cold
To reset modules individually, at the system prompt, enter:
cb9000> reset module <slot>.1 cold
4 Confirm that all of the downloads were successful by viewing a display.
At the system prompt, enter:
cb9000> show module <slot>.1 verbose
or
cb9000> show module all verbose
5 Update the Emergency Download parameters, if necessary. See
"Updating Emergency Download Parameters" later in this chapter.
