NSTALLATION
Note 9: The NetBEUI protocol-based VLANs were incorrectly named
NetBIOS in Release 2.x. This naming has been corrected in Release 3.0.
However, the
bridge vlan detail
protocol type for NetBEUI VLANs that are converted from Release 2.x.
Note 10: Before you connect to a multilayer switching module to the
network, reset the SAPadvertising parameter to its Release 2.x value.
To upgrade a multilayer switching module from Release 3.0.0 or 3.0.1 to
Release 3.0.5, follow these steps:
This process assumes that:
You have already upgraded the software on the EME modules in your
system to the release numbers noted in Table 1 on page 11.
You have downloaded (from the 3Com Web site) the appropriate
Release 3.0.5 images in a TFTP server directory (usually named "tftp"
or "tftpboot"). To determine the filenames to download, consult
Table 1.
1 Refer to the section "Prerequisites for Software Installation" to ensure
you have complied with the prerequisites stated there and that you have
read important information.
2 To download software to the module, at the system prompt, enter:
cb9000> download module <slot>.1 all_image <server address>
<filename>
Where
is the slot number of the module,
<slot>
the IP address of the TFTP server where the new software image resides,
and
is the filename of the software for the particular module
<filename>
that you want to upgrade.
The software filename has the extension .all because it includes several
images in one file.
The filename that you enter may include a path to the directory within
the file server if this directory is not the file server's default directory.
3 Reset the module so that the new software takes effect. At the system
prompt, enter:
cb9000> reset module <slot>.1 cold
