N O T E
If turning the key is difficult, jig g le the
steering w heel from side to side.
A C C (A ccessory)
The steering w heel unlocks and som e
electrical accessories w ill operate.
O N
T his is the norm al running position after
the engine is started. T he w arning lights
(except brakes)should be inspected before
the engine is started (page 5-23).
STA R T
The engine is started in this position. It
w ill crank until you release the key; then
it returns to the O N position. The brake
w arning light can be checked after the
engine is started (page 5-23).
▼ Ignition Key Reminder
If the ignition sw itch is in the L O C K or
A CC position, a beep w ill sound when
any door is opened.

Starting the Engine

Engine-starting is controlled by the
spark ignition system.
This system m eets all C anadian
Interference-C ausing E quipm ent
Standard requirem ents regulating the
im pulse electrical field strength o f
radio noise.
1. O ccupants should fasten their seat
belts.
2. M ake sure the parking brake is on.
3. D epress the brake pedal.
4. (M a n u a l tra n sa x le )
D epress the clutch pedal all the way
and shift into neutral.
K eep the pedal depressed w hile
cranking the engine.
The starter w ill not operate if the
clutch pedal is n o t pushed down all the
way.
