use a soft cloth dam pened in lukew arm
w ater, gently w iping the antenna lines.

A M signals bend around such things as
buildings or m ountains and bounce o ff the
ionosphere. T herefore, they can reach
longer distances than FM signals. B ecause
o f this, two stations m ay som etim es be
picked up on the sam e frequency at the
sam e time.

A n FM broadcast range is usually about
40— 50 k m (25— 30 m iles) from the
source. B ecause o f extra coding needed to
break the sound into two channels, stereo
FM has even less range than m onaural
(non-stereo) FM .
