You are req u ired by law to u se a c h ild -restrain t system fo r children in the U .S. and C anada.
C h eck y o u r lo cal and state o r p ro v incial law s fo r specific requ irem ents regarding the safety
o f c h ild ren riding in y o u r vehicle.
W hatever c h ild -restrain t system you consider, please pick th e appropriate one fo r the age
and size o f the child, obey the law and follow the in structio ns th at co m e w ith the individual
c h ild -restrain t system .
A child w ho has outgrow n ch ild -restrain t system s should sit in the re a r and use seat belts,
b oth lap and shoulder. I f the sho u ld er b elt crosses th e n eck o r face, m ove the ch ild clo ser to
the center.
Statistics confirm th at th e rear seat is the b est p lace for all children up to 1 2 years o f age-
the m o re so w ith a supplem ental re strain t system (a ir bags).
A rear-facing ch ild -restrain t system should N E V E R be used in the front seat because it
w ould be too close to th e air bag. T he fro n t p a sse n g er's seat is also the lea st preferred seat
fo r o th er ch ild -restrain t system s.
