General Features

Introduction
Faults or errors have to be recognized, localized and signaled as soon as possible.
The self test of the AddFEM is carried out completely (Run Up Self Test) after a
POWER ON and section–by–section (Cycle Self Test) during cyclic normal opera-
tion. (see "Technical Data" Section 4.1)
Self Tests / Self Monitoring
The following components and functions are tested:
– Memory test RAM
– Checksum test RAM (calibration data, program code)
– Checksum test FEPROM (calibration data, program code)
Self Tests in Cyclic Operation
Some error evaluations have to be synchronized with the I/O cycle and are there-
fore part of the I/O cycle
Self tests in the I/O cycle:
– PROFIBUS functionality
– Data transfer between Host and AddFEM
– Data transfer between the redundant AddFEMs
– Cycle runtimes
– Supply voltage
– Channel error of the process inputs or process outputs
– Co–processor monitoring by the main processor
Delayed Shutoff
In case of a brief failure of the Host unit or a failure of the communication via the
PROFIBUS DP the process outputs are switched off in graded form after a tole-
rance period which can be parameterized.
The tolerance period can be set within a range of 10 ms to 3 s.
The default is 0.5 seconds.
(refer to Section 4.3.1 "Parameterization Telegram")
