Connection of the Process Signals
Cable type: Shielded cables are to be used for analog signals in order to achieve
the corresponding protection against interference (refer to "Supplementary Techni-
cal Data on Safety, Environmental Conditions and EMC"). Unshielded cables can
be used for the digital signals.
In accordance with the UL/CSA approval for the front connectors which fit the sok-
kets X4 to X7 (connector with 10 screw terminals from the AddFEM connector set,
Order No. 6DL9900–8AA) connection of the process signals may only be realized
by means of copper full–wire cables or litz wires with wire end ferrules (stripping
length 9 mm). At 60

Tightening torque of the screws when connecting the wires: 0.22 to 0.25 Nm.
Warning
!
Please note that in the process transients or faulty connections can cause dange-
rous contact voltages to arise which are connected via the connectors to the mo-
dule. These voltages can become dangerous for the user through the following
connection points:
Lock screws:
The lock screws used to screw the cables onto the process connector can be tou-
ched when connecting the cables or handling the cable connectors.
Contact pins on the module front connector:
If the process connector is only plugged partially onto the module front connector,
dangerous contact voltages can be transferred from the adapted contacts via the
module to the open contact pins not yet adapted.
The shrouding cover must therefore be closed after the process connector has
been connected and the cables have been clamped.
Before opening the shrouding cover either disconnect the connection to the pro-
cess or take the required precautionary measures to prevent contact to the open
contact pins or to the lock screws.
Strain Relief of the Cables
At the front end of the AddFEM there is a metal comb for clamping all the cables
and wires with cable ties. When a module is replaced, the metal comb (including
the cables and wires fixed to it) can be removed after loosening two screws and
then mounted on the new module.
