Design
Module Supply
The AddFEM is supplied with 24 V DC via a plug–in connector on the front.

Figure 2-4 Module supply 24 V DC

The supply input of the module is limited electronically. In addition it is fused with
F 2.5A (internal fuse element for protection against damage – cannot be replaced).
The AddFEM can be operated with a direct voltage of 19.2 to 30 V.
The lower limit (19.2 V) is monitored.
Load Supply
The 24 V DC load supply for the analog outputs is supplied by the AddFEM. The
24 V DC load supply for the digital outputs must be generated externally and fed
via the X7 connector (Fig. 2–3).
Grounding and Control–to–load Isolation
There is a grounding screw on the front panel below the module supply. If the
AddFEM is mounted on an underground which is not conductive or not grounded,
the module housing has to be grounded via this grounding screw (EMC shielding
measure).
The following function areas are isolated from each other:
– Micro controller area including the analog inputs and outputs
– Module supply 24 V DC
– Digital inputs and outputs
4 of the 12 digital inputs each as well as the 3 counting pulse inputs have a signal
common. The 16 digital outputs are distributed amongst two signal commons.
Interfaces X1 and X2
– Redundancy interface X2
For the redundant operation of two AddFEMs.
– Service interface X1
For maintenance work and commissioning.
