Thedisplayofroadsignsisbasedontheevaluationofdatafromthenavigationsystemandthe
evaluationofimagedatarecordedbytheKAFASstereocamera.
TheKAFASstereocameradetectsroadsignsattheedgeoftheroadandalsothevariabledisplaysof
gantrysigns.Roadsignscontainingadditionalinformation,e.g."Inwetconditions",arealsodetected
andsynchronisedwithvehicle-internaldata,e.g.therainsensor,anddisplayeddependingonthe
situation.
Thesystemalsotakestheapplicabletimerestrictionsidentifiedintoaccount,e.g."between10.00
pmand6.00am".Thecurrenttimeoftheon-boardclockisusedforthis.Thesystemtakesthe
informationstoredinthenavigationsystemintoaccountanddisplaysexistingtopspeedlimitations
onsectionsofroadwithoutsignage.
