18.ParkingManeuverAssistant

thereisariskofaccidents.

Ifaparkingspacethathasalreadybeenmeasuredchanges,thesystemdoesnottakethisinto
account.
•
Thesystemdoesnottakeloadsthatprojectabovethevehicleintoaccountduringparking.
•
TheParkingManeuverAssistantPMAmaysteerthevehicleoverorupontocurbs.Youshould
thereforeusethefacilityforactiveinterventionatanytimewithcautionasyoumayotherwise
damagewheelsandtiresorthevehicleitself.
TheParkingManeuverAssistantPMAdoesnotrelievethedriverofpersonalresponsibilityduring
parking.Therefore,beattentiveinordertobeabletoactivelyinterveneatanytime.Otherwise,thereis
ariskofanaccident.
18.5.Functionalprerequisites
TousetheParkingManeuverAssistantfunction,thefollowingbasicprerequisitesmustbemet:
•
thedoorsmustbeclosed
•
thetailgatemustbeclosed
•
thedriver'sseatbeltmustbefastened
•
theparkingbrakemustbereleased
18.5.1.Measuringparkingspaces
Parkingspacesaremeasuredwhiledriving.Thefollowingparametersapply:
•
Drivingforwardsstraight-aheaduptoabout35 km/h
•
Maximumdistancetotherowofparkedvehicles:1.5m.
Detectingthecurb
Ifacurbisdetectedwithintherangeoftheultrasonicsensorwhilethesystemissearchingfora
parkingspace,theparkingspaceisforthemostaspacethatisparalleltotheroad.
Inthecaseofparkingspacesthatareperpendiculartotheroadway,thecurbisusuallyoutsidethe
detectionrangeoftheultrasonicsensors(rangeabout4.2 m).
