22.1.8.Deactivationcriteria
Thesteeringandlanecontrolassistantincludingtrafficjamassistantisdeactivatedautomaticallyin
thefollowingsituations:
•
Ifthevehicledepartsfromthedetectedlaneorthelanewidthdoesnotmeetthe
requirements.
•
IfthelaneedgesofthecurrentlanearenotdetectedbytheKAFASstereocamera.
•
Ifnovehicledrivingaheadisdetected.
•
Thevehicleistravellingataspeedgreaterthan210 km/h.
•
IftheHands-off-Detectioncannotdetectthehands(atleastonehand)onthesteeringwheel
rim.Switch-offoccursonceadefinedtimethreshold(severalseconds)haselapsed.
•
Duetotheradiusofthebendintheroad,theinnerlaneedgeisnolongerdetectedduetothe
cameraapertureangle.
•
Pedestrianprotectionassumestheoperatingcondition"Faultexists".
•
Iftheturnindicatorison.
•
Thedriverintervenesactivelyinthesteering.
•
Ifoveracertaintimeperiodnolaneedgesaredetectedandthereisnotavehicledriving
ahead.
•
IfthedrivermanuallydeactivatestheDSC(DSCoff).
•
Ifthereisaninterventionfromthepreventativepedestrianprotection.
•
AfterDynamicBrakeControlbraking(brakeassistant).
22.1.9.Limitsofthesystem
Whendrivinginnarrowlanes,e.g.whendrivingthroughroadworksorwhenemergencylanesare
formed,thesystemcannotbeactivatedorusedmeaningfully.
DuetothelimiteddetectioncapacityoftheKAFASstereocamera,thedrivermustremainalertand
observantinordertobeabletoactivelyinterveneatanytimesoastoavoidtheriskofanaccident.The
systemdoesnotrelievethedriverofpersonalresponsibilityforcorrectlyjudgingthetrafficsituation.
