19.1.Introduction
TwocruisecontrolfunctionscanbeusedintheG12.Thecruisecontrolwithbrakingfunction(DCC)
ispartofthebasicequipment.
ThecustomeralsohastheoptionoforderingtheActiveCruiseControlwithStop&Gofunction
(ACC Stop&Go)optionalequipment(OE ZN7)partofZDTDriverAssistancePlusII.
ACC Stop&GocanalsobeobtainedifthecustomeroptsfortheActiveDrivingAssistantPlusoptional
equipment(OE 5AT),asitiscontainedinthisequipmentpackage.
OtherfeaturesoftheActiveDrivingAssistantPlusoptionalequipment(OE5AT)arethesteeringand
lanecontrolassistantandthetrafficjamassistant.Whenusedinconjunctionwiththesteeringand
lanecontrolassistantandthetrafficjamassistant,ACCStop&Goprovidesoptimumsupportforthe
driver.
Thecruisecontrolsystemssupportthedriverwithadaptingthespeed,distanceanddrivingstyleto
thetrafficconditions,butdonotrelievehimofhisresponsibility.Thedrivermustactivelyintervene,
e.g.bybraking,steeringortakingevasiveaction,asotherwisethereisariskofanaccident.
19.2.Cruisecontrolwithbrakingfunction
ThecruisecontrolwithbrakingfunctionisincludedaspartoftheG12'sbasicequipment.Thesystem
isalsoKnownas"DynamicCruiseControl"(DCC).DynamicCruiseControl(DCC)supportsthedriver
onroadswithlesstrafficbykeepingthespeedconstantirrespectiveofrollingresistances(incline,
downhilldrivingandvehicleload).Inspiteofthesupport,thedriverremainsresponsibleforcontrol
ofthevehicle.ItispossibletooverridetheDCCfunctionatanytimebybrakingoracceleratingthe
vehicle.
19.2.1.Controlfunctions
Cruisecontrol
Thecruisecontrolcalculatesatargetaccelerationordecelerationbasedonthespeedsetbythedriver
andtheactualspeed.
Accelerationanddeceleration
Thedrivercanspecifythesetspeedoraccelerationviatherockerswitchonthemultifunctionsteering
wheel(MFL).
Cruisecontrolonbends
Anotherpurposeofthisfunction,alsoreferredtoasthe"lateralaccelerationcontroller",istoprevent
thelateralaccelerationfromincreasingaboveanacceptablelevelwhencorneringwiththecruise
controlswitchedon.Alateralaccelerationiscalculatedfromthedrivingspeedandyawrate.Thisvalue
iscomparedwithaspeed-dependentlimitinordertoachievethefollowingseeminglycontradictory
objectives:
