thedistance.InvehicleswiththeDriving Assistant Plus optionalequipment(OE5AT),thedistanceis
adjustedusingtherockerbutton.
ACCStop&Gocalculatesthereferencedistanceforthecontrolfromthispreselection.Thefollowing
distancemostrecentlyselectedissaveddependingonthekeybeingused.
Thereferencedistanceduringthejourneyisproportionaltothedrivingspeed.Atalowerdrivingspeed
andatstandstill,theproportionaldistancetothedrivingspeedisnolongerusedfortheACCStop&
Go,butafixedvalueinmetres.
Ifavehiclemovesintothedriver'slane,whichisanticipatedduetothecurrentdrivingcondition,or
ifthedriverisapproachingavehicledrivingahead,theACC Stop&Gofunctiondiscretelyadaptsthe
speedtothevehiclepullinginorvehicleahead.
Thedistancecontrolusesthepreparedobjectdatawiththehighestdiagnosticstatisticasinput
variables.Thedistancecontroltakesintoconsiderationthefollowingsituationsinparticular:
Maximumvaluesforaccelerationanddeceleration:

ThemaximumvaluesforaccelerationanddecelerationoftheACCStop&Gosystembelow
about50 km/haredynamicvalues.Theycorrespondtotheaccelerationanddeceleration
valuesthatthedriverwouldusehimselfandconsiderscomfortable.Insituationswhere
sharperdecelerationisrequiredthanthesystemoffersaspartofthespeedadjustment
feature,avisualandacousticsignalisissuedtothedrivertoinformhimtotakeovervehicle
handling.
Dependingonthesituation,theACCStop&Goacceleratesbyamaximumofabout2 m/s²
anddeceleratesbyamaximumofabout4 m/s².
Stopandstartstability:

Inthecaseofveryheavytrafficandverylowdrivingspeed,theriskofrear-endcollisions
increasesthroughheavyaccelerationandbraking.TheACCStop&Godistancecontrolleris
thereforedesignedtodecelerateasearlyaspossible,butnotmorethanthevehicleahead.
Thesystemcandeceleratebyupto2.5 m/s²atthemostduringsubsequentoperation,andby
upto4 m/s²atthemostwhenstopping.
Requesttotakeovervehiclehandling
WhenACCStop&Goisnolongerabletomaintainasafedistanceoracriticalsituationisdetected,
e.g.onaccountofveryhighdifferentialspeedsoraninsufficientmaximumdeceleration,twoshort
warningsignalssoundandtheorangelitupvehiclesymbolintheinstrumentclusterortheHead‐Up
Display(optionalequipmentOE610)flashes.Thesystemcontinuestoperformitscontrolfunction
andpromptsthedrivertotakeovervehiclehandlingandtokeeptheirdistanceaccordingly.
19.3.2.Operation
Activationanddeactivation
TheactivationanddeactivationoftheACCStop&GoandtheDynamicCruiseControlarealmostthe
same.ACC Stop&Gocaneitherbeactivatedwhiledrivingoratastandstill.Forsafetyreasons,when
thevehicleisatastandstillthefunctioncanonlybeputinStandbymodeordeactivatedwhilethe
footbrakeisapplied.
