G12VoltageSupplyandBusSystems 1.BusSystems Hardwareadvantages Oneadvantageisthetransmissionofvehiclecameradata.Vehiclecameras(IP-based)arenot connectedtoonecontrolunit,butseveralcontrolunitsbyEthernetwhichallowstheseunitstoaccess thecameradataflowefficiently.Thenetworkisthereforeveryflexibleandiswellpreparedforthe future. Anotherimportantadvantageisthefastprogrammingofcontrolunits.Theprogrammingtimesare reducedsignificantlyviaEthernet.WhereasaCANbuscanonlytransmitdatawithamaximumlength of8bytespermessage,Ethernetmessageshavealengthofover1500bytes.Theuserdataratethus increases:Considerablymoremessagepackagescanbetransmittedinashorterperiod. TheOABREthernetconnectionequatestoadditionalweightandcostsavings,duetoonlyusing2 wires. Datatransfer FordatatransferinthestandardEthernet100BASE-TX,onelinepairisneededfortransmittingdata andonepairforreceiving. IncontrasttothestandardEthernetdescribedabove,withtheOABREthernetthedataisnow transmittedwithonelinepair.Thismeanswiththe2-wireOABREthernet,asimultaneoustransmit- receivemodeisdoneviaeachofthetwosinglepaircables.Thetwolinestransmitasumsignal differentially.Ifalineisinterrupted,asignalcannolongerflowbackthroughthesecondwirevia thedifferentialtransmission.Asymmetricaltransmissionwouldthusnolongerbepossible,the communicationviathedatabuscomestoastandstill. Thepreconditionsforthedirectionoftheenergymanagementarecalculatedfromtheuseofthe vehicle.Whentheengineisrunningtheauxiliarybatteryischargedfromtheconventionalvehicle electricalsystem.Duringthephasesinwhichthecombustionengineisnotrunning,e.g.automatic enginestart-stopfunction,theconventionalvehicleelectricalsystemissuppliedbytheauxiliary battery. ThePowerControlUnit(PCU)isconnectedtothePT-CAN2andaDC/DCconverterwithapower of500 W. 3.2.13.24VElectronicPowerSteering Thehigherweight8-cylinderengineintheG12resultsinahigherfrontaxleload.Thisincreasesthe effortthatisrequiredbythepowersteeringservo.Duetothesehighcurrents,itisnecessary toincreasethevoltagesupplyoftheEPSto24 V.
