IFC Networking—Metasys Intelligent Fire Network
To access Fire-Net NCM data, follow the steps below.
1. Select the FN ADDR button on the toolbar or under the File menu,
choose Address. The FN Statistics for PC or NC dialog box appears
(Figure 23).
2. Select the FN Stats for a Fire NC option and Click OK. The NC FN
Statistics dialog box appears (Figure 26).

3. Enter the FN node number ID of the Fire-Net NCM. The gate, port,
and network fields have default values.
Note: If you receive an address error, make sure you have entered an
FN node ID between the Fire-Net NCM range of 70-79.
Once you have viewed the data and want to reset the Fire-Net NCM
database, return to the NC FN Statistics dialog box (click on the FN
Address button on the toolbar, select NC) and check the Initialize FN
Statistics dialog box (Figure 26).
FN Stats keeps track of the data messages that travel over the FN between
the network nodes. Data messages are information that is related to the fire
application; for example, an IFC panel sending an alarm to the Fire OWS
is a data message.
The program has two functions: to track network volume and to monitor
network performance. Poor network performance can be caused by a high
number of retries or resync messages occurring between nodes. The
FN Stats program will identify how often the retries and resyncs occur.
Table 14 shows the counters that are part of the FN Stats program and
what they indicate.
