4.6 Voltage indication

A single-pole voltage tester (type UNL) is available for
detecting voltages.
The single-pole voltage tester consists of two parts:
the probe (1) with exchangeable test point (1);
the grip (4).
The probe is screwed onto the grip before use. During
transport of the tester the probe can also be fixed to the
grip in inverted position.
The probe has a clearly visible red ring.
An indicator lamp (3) and push button (2) are fitted to the
wide end of the probe (which is screwed to the grip). The
indicator lamp lights up when a voltage is present at the
test point of the probe. The push button is used to test the
probe.
The rated voltage of the probe must match the operating
voltage of the switchgear being tested. The rated voltage is
indicated on the wide part of the probe.

AUTION
Do not insert the voltage tester past the red
ring in live switchgear components.
Clean and dry the voltage tester thoroughly
before using it.
Hold the voltage tester firmly behind the red
ring on the grip.

OTE
Read the user instructions included with the
voltage tester.
Testing the voltage tester
1.
Watch the indicator lamp on the probe;
2.
At the same time press the test button.
 The probe is in working order if the indicator lamp
(3) is flashing.
