4.7.2
Earthing a cable using single-pole slow
earthing
W
ARNING
Do not fit an earthing cap unless it is dead.
If an earthing cap is fitted to a live cast resin
insulated member, a short-circuit current may
cause the earthing cap to jump away, followed
by an electric arc extending in the direction of
the operator. Eliminate this risk by switching on
each earthing cap with a rapid and sharp
movement. Therefore, first of all read the safety
instructions in para 4.1.1 on switching the
switch caps on and off.
When fitting the earthing caps, never put your
hand between the red ring on the mounting rod
and the earthing caps.
1.
Check that the cable to be earthed is dead.
2.
Connect the earthing caps to the earthing point of the
Magnefix switchgear using the earthing spider or the
individual earthing cables.
