3.7 Filling the cable box for paper-insulated,
lead-covered cables
3.7.1

Materials required

a.
Can of grease for the cable box with closed cover for
transport and storage.
b.
Hand pump.
c.
Filling device with filling tube and valve.
d.
Filling hose with hose clip, shut-off ring and connector
nipple.
e.
Filling cover for can of grease.
3.7.2

Procedure

Proceed as follows:
1.
Remove the transport/storage cover from the can of
grease (a) and place the filling cover (e) using the
fixing ring.
(With each can of grease a filling cover is supplied).
2.
Heat the can to a temperature not exceeding 100 °C,
while stirring. At this temperature the grease will be
perfectly fluid.

OTE
When heating with a naked flame, keep it away
from joints and the filling opening of the can.
3.
Allow the grease to cool down to a temperature of
approximately 80 °C.
4.
Place the filling device (c) on the can and push the
filling tube down to the bottom.
