Maintenance kit
The maintenance kit is intended for maintaining Magnefix
switchgear. This maintenance kit contains special tools.
MAC-05 conditioning fluid
Magnefix MAC-05 conditioning fluid may be used to
remove sticky dirt and to apply a fresh moisture-repellent
film. The fluid is a solution of silicone oil in water, which is
sparingly applied to the parts to be treated, using a wet,
lint-free cloth. When the fluid has dried, the surface is
rubbed with a dry cloth to obtain a polished appearance.
MAC-05:
is non-inflammable;
does not present any hazards to users
(provided it is not swallowed)
does not contain any volatiles which may be harmful
to people and the environment;
does not attack the surface of parts
treated with it.
When used as a cleaning agent, MAC-05 is not suitable for
dealing with heavy oil or grease contamination or chemical
contaminants. MAC-05 can always be used as a
conditioner for clean or cleaned surfaces.

6.3 Cleaning

The fixed portion of the switchgear, the interior and exterior
of the fuse holder and the exterior of the switch caps are to
be cleaned in accordance with the procedures set out
below.

Switchgear has been isolated

Remove dust and dirt, using a soft hand brush or by
blowing.
Persistent dirt can be removed, using MAC 05.
C
AUTION
We strongly advise against the use of chemical
solvents because they may damage the synthetic
materials used.
Procedure:
1.
Remove all switch and fuse caps.
C
AUTION
Be aware of feedback from the low-voltage side of
transformers.
2.
Fit the protective earthing.
3.
Remove loose dirt (using compressed air or a dry
hand brush).
4.
Moisten a clean and lint-free cloth with water and
Magnefix MAC-05 conditioning fluid;
5.
Remove as much sticky dirt as possible.
6.
(If necessary) moisten a clean and lint-free cloth with
benzine or white spirit.
7.
Remove any fatty substances.
N
OTE
We advise against scouring thermoplastic
components. Replace these components, if they
are heavily attacked.
8.
Remove any tracking marks using a scouring pad,
scraper or end mill cutter.
9.
Dry the switchgear using a clean lint-free cloth.
10. Blow the switchgear clean on the inside.
11. Apply a very thin protective film of Magnefix MAC-05
conditioning fluid on the clean and dry surfaces. Rub
this film until a polished, non-sticky, moisture-repellent
finish is obtained.
N
OTE
Make sure the protective film stays very thin so
that it will not become sticky. Excessive MAC-05
retains dirt.
