CLEANING, DISINFECTION, AND STERILIZATION
The user is fully responsible for any deviations from the recommended cleaning,
disinfection, and sterilization processes. If the processes are altered, the desired effect
may not be achieved. Brainlab excludes any liability in such cases.
Following sterilization, wait until instruments are cooled down to room temperature before
use. The use of hot instruments could injure the patient or damage non-heat resistant
instruments.
If applied properly, Brainlab fixation pins can be used for up to two years or sterilized up to
150 times, whichever occurs first. Using the STERRAD® 100S sterilization system, up to
100 re-processing cycles are possible. The pins may shatter if uneven or extreme torque is
applied, or if less than four fixation pins are used.
