Chapter 2. Eclipse Edge System Description
Lightning Surge Suppressor
A lightning surge suppressor kit is available for installation in the ODU cable at the
building/shelter end of the cable. It is designed for indoor installation, and should be
located just inside the building with its ground wire fastened directly to the main
building ground. It protects all eight wires in the ODU cable.
The kit comprises:
• Surge suppressor.
• A ground wire and lugs.
• An installation instruction sheet.

Chapter 3.

IDUspe Power Supply Requirements

The Edge IDUspe is designed to operate from a +/- 48 Vdc or +/- 24 Vdc power
supply, but will operate to specification over a voltage range of +/- 20 to +/- 60 Vdc.
• The +/- input terminals are isolated from chassis ground.
• It can be used with positive or negative grounded power supply systems.
• The ground terminal on the IDUspe power connector must be connected directly to
the rack or building/shelter ground.
• The dc power supply must be UL or IEC compliant for a 24 or 48 Vdc SELV (Safety
Extra Low Voltage) output (60 Vdc maximum limited).
