ODUspe Coupler Installation Procedure
NOTE:
A coupler installation sheet is included with each coupler.
Attaching a Coupler
Before installing a coupler check there will be sufficient mechanical clearance for the
coupler and its ODUs. There should be no clearance issues using Aviat Networks'
approved antennas when installed correctly on its mount with the appropriate left or
right offset. However care must be taken at locations where a non-standard antenna
installation is required.
The ODUs are attached to the coupler as if attaching to an antenna except that there
is no polarization rotator associated with each ODU. Rather the coupler polarization
is set to provide the V or H antenna polarization using a rotator that fits into the hub
of the rotator. Couplers are default fitted for vertical polarization; the rotator element
for horizontal polarization is an optional extra.
A coupler must always be installed onto its antenna before ODUs are attached to the
coupler.
To install a coupler:
For a vertically polarized antenna proceed to step 2. For a horizontally polarized
antenna begin at step 1.
1. To change the coupler rotator from its default vertical polarization, remove the
coupler feedhead assembly by unscrewing its retaining screws. Replace with the
optional horizontal feedhead assembly.
2. Remove any protective tape from the waveguide ports and check that the antenna
and coupler interfaces are undamaged, clean, and dry.
3. Fit the O-ring seal and apply a thin layer of silicon grease around the O-ring. The
