3-10 CLAMP ASSEMBLY

3-10.1 Install spring or rigid clamps on frame us-
ing 5/8-11 x 6-1/2 hex head cap screws and
hex lock nuts at locations marked in Figures
2-1 through 2-6.
NOTE: Spring casting may be rotated 90 o to in-
crease spring trip pressure.
3-10.2 Tighten bolts to proper torque making sure
clamps are square with frame.
3-10.3 Slide shank into spring clamp and fasten
using 7/8-9 x 3" hex head cap screw and
hex lock nut (See Figure 3-12).
3-10.4 To fasten shank in rigid clamp, slide shank
over rear pin, fasten rigid clamp spacer to
shank using 7/8-9 x 4" hex head cap screw
and hex lock nut. Lower shank and insert
1/2-13 x 4
GR2 hex head cap screw and
hex lock nut (See Figure 3-12).
NOTE: Use only 1/2-13 x 4 GR2 hex head cap
screw. Any variation in size or hardness may
damage shank and mounting brackets, and
void warranty. GR2 hex head cap screw is de-
signed to shear off to prevent damage to shank
and mounting brackets.
3-10.5 Install left and right helical blades to shank
with 1/2-13 x 2-1/2 plow bolt, split lock
washer, and hex nut (See Figure 3-12).
Tighten plow bolt making sure shoulders of
bolt fit into square holes on helical blades.
Hit each bolt several blows with a heavy
hammer, then retighten to proper torque as
listed in Tables 2-1 and 2-2.
3-10.6 Recheck all bolts to be sure they are
torqued to proper specifications, inspect all
pivot points to insure they are snug, but not
binding. Grease all fittings.
