Initializing a Nortel Networks M5317TDX terminal
Step
The following is an example of the steps to initialize an M5317TDX terminal.

codes that can appear during terminal initialization. Additional information is
contained in the M5317TDX user guide.

Action
Set the switch on the bottom of the terminal for either line power
or local power.
Plug in the M5317TDX terminal.
Press and hold down the RLS and HOLD keys as the terminal
powers up.
Press MAINROM.
Press INSTALL.
Press ENGLISH or FRANCAIS for your choice of language.
Press the soft key of the TEI you want to set PHONE, DATA or
X25.
Note: Dynamic TEI is only supported with firmware version
2.0 or higher.
Enter * for dynamic TEI.
Enter the TEI on the terminal keypad for static TEI.
Press OK when you have finished setting the TEIs.
Enter the phone (voice) SPID. Press OK when finished.
Enter the data SPID. Press OK when finished.
Enter the data DN. Press OK when finished.
Press HEADSET until REAR displays.
Press SIGTYPE until MER1 displays.
Press A/MU until MU-LAW displays.
Press MORE.
Press DIALPLN until NATIONAL displays.
Press EXIT.
Press NO to execute SPM.
Press YES to enter datafill.
Press YES to delete existing datafill.
Press KEY# then use to keypad to enter the key number you
want to program.
