Chapter 3 Setup

Turning on the Server

Pressing the POWER switch at the front of the server turns on the server.
Turn on the server by using the following procedure.
1. Turn on the peripheral devices that connect to the display monitor and the server.
2. Remove the front bezel.
3. Press the POWER switch at the front of the server.
The POWER LED is turned on green and after a while, the NEC logo appears on the display.
While the NEC logo is being displayed, the self-diagnostic program (POST) runs and diagnoses the
hardware. For details, refer to Chapter 3 (1.1.1 POST sequence).
Tips
After connecting the power cord or turning off the server, wait for at least 30
seconds before pressing the POWER switch when the server is OFF.
Note
If the power cord is connected to power control system such as an Uninterruptible
Power Supply (UPS), make sure that the power control system is turned on.
Important
Do not turn off the server until the NEC logo and some characters are
displayed.
