Upgrading the G250 firmware

Upgrading G250 firmware using the CLI

You can upgrade firmware using the CLI. You can perform the upgrade remotely via a modem
connection, but the upgrade files must first be downloaded to an FTP or TFTP server on the
LAN connected to the G250.
To upgrade G250 firmware using the CLI:
1. Prepare installation worksheets. See

If you use an FTP server, the G250 prompts you for a username and password

connection to the S8300B, all anonymous FTP file transfers are restricted to the
/var/home/ftp/pub directory. Permission for anonymous FTP users to create files
in other directories is denied.
3. Download the firmware files to the FTP or TFTP server. See

CLI Commands for upgrading G250 firmware

You can use one of the following commands to upload an upgrade file to the G250. For each of
these commands, include the full path of the file and the IP address of the FTP or TFTP host as
parameters. When you enter the command, the CLI prompts you for a username and password.
Use the copy ftp module command, followed by the module number of the module you
want to upgrade, to upgrade the firmware on a media module from an FTP server.
Use the copy ftp SW_imageA command to upgrade the G250 firmware into Bank A
from an FTP server.
Use the copy ftp SW_imageB command to upgrade the G250 firmware into Bank B
from an FTP server.
Use the copy tftp module command, followed by the module number of the module
you want to upgrade, to upgrade the firmware on a media module from a TFTP server.
