OPC server

The OPC server application consists of two main modules:
● Data retrieval module:
– polls the POP3 mail account and retrieves emails containing the attached CSV files
– stores CSV files in the SQL Lite database
● Data serving module:
– makes the data available to OPC clients by retrieving it from the database
Data retrieval module
The data retrieval module updates the database file with the data collected by MAG 8000.
The module has two main tasks:
● To poll the POP3 account according to the time interval defined in the configuration in order
to retrieve each email
● To store this data in the database file
The OPC server supports OPC DA (Data Access) and OPC HDA (Historical Data Access). For

OPC server installation
The name of the MAG 8000 OPC Server is "Siemens.MAG8000.1". Most OPC clients allow
browsing for available OPC servers. Select "Siemens.MAG8000.1" in order to connect to the
MAG 8000 OPC server.
All MAG 8000 devices are listed with the prefix "MAG8000_" and their identifier.
Example:
The device with the ID 0123456789 has the following name in the "Siemens.MAG8000.1"
address space: MAG8000_0123456789
Installation
Install the OPC server application from the CD-ROM by executing "setup.exe" or by opening
"MAG 8000 OPC Server.msi" and follow the instructions.
