► The battery pack must not be exposed to moisture or
rain.
NOTICE
Penetration of moisture
Irreparable damage to the battery charger
► Do not transport the battery charger or battery pack
unprotected in the ScoutCrawler (the transport case
does not provide sufficient protection against moisture
penetration).
7.4.2 General Information
The standard version of the outdoor vehicle is equipped with
maintenance-free 24 V LI-Ion batteries with a capacity of
18.4 Ah. Due to the sealed design, the chosen technology
meets the latest safety and environmental compatibility provi
sions.
The batteries are encased in a battery pack in the right bat
tery case of the outdoor vehicle; the battery pack can be
removed for transportation or maintenance of the outdoor
vehicle. The battery pack does not need to be removed for
charging. However, it can also be charged after being
removed.
The range of the outdoor vehicle is determined by the capa
city of the battery pack. The following factors influence bat
tery capacity:
Ambient temperature
ScoutCrawler
Age of the batteries
Driving load
Charging method
Extended driving at the lower end of the battery indicator
results in deep discharge which causes battery damage.
When driving with a low charge, the outdoor vehicle control
unit switches to creep speed which saves power. In case of
further use, the battery pack is deactivated to protect the
batteries against deep discharge.
7.4.3 Notes on Charging the Battery Pack
The following information should be observed for an optimal
charging cycle:
The batteries can be charged at any time, regardless of
the remaining battery capacity.
It takes about 8 hours until a discharged battery (only 1
flashing segment) is completely charged. When the
charging process is complete, the battery charger can
remain connected to the outdoor vehicle with no risk of
overcharging or damaging the battery. The battery char
ger features a programmed recharging phase that will
maintain the battery capacity at the level that has been
reached.
If the outdoor vehicle is used every day, the battery
should be charged every night.
Never discharge the batteries completely (deep dis
charge).
