Troubleshooting Section
Results:
OK – The resistance is less than 10 ohms.
Proceed to test step 7.
Not OK – The resistance is greater than 10 ohms.
There is an open circuit or excessive resistance in
the wiring harness.
Repair: Repair the connectors or wiring and/or
replace the connectors or wiring.
STOP.
Test Step 7. Short the Input Wires of
the Oil Level Switch at the MIC Machine
Interface Connector

A. Remove the wires P20:21 and P20:37 from the
Machine Interface Connector (MIC).
B. Insert a jumper wire between P20:21 and P20:37
at the MIC.
C. Reconnect all connectors.
D. Turn the keyswitch to the ON position. The engine
should be OFF.
Note: Additional diagnostic codes will be generated
because the digital return will no longer be connected
to the other sensors and switches. Ignore the codes
and clear the codes when you complete this test.
E. Observe the status of the "Engine Oil Level" on
the electronic service tool.
F. Turn the keyswitch to the OFF position.
G. Disconnect J20/P20 MIC and remove the wire
short.
H. Reconnect all connectors.
