Touch the "Barcode (Optional)" button to access the Barcode Settings Screen. This is a dynamic
screen to facilitate using a specific facility's barcode and barcode scanner to populate the new
patient demographics on the New Patient Entry Screen.
After making desired selections, touch "Save and Return." This will save the changed data and
return the screen to the previous screen accessed. Touching the "Return" button will return the
screen to the previous screen accessed without saving any changes to the data.

17.1 Barcode Setting Overview

The Sensica™ UO System for ICU software package contains a parsing engine to parse the ASCII
text input from a keyboard wedge barcode scanner and extract various items of patient information
from the barcode data.

17.2 Barcode Parser Tokens

Barcode parser tokens are used to instruct the parser engine how to decode text from a barcode
scanner. The barcode parser starts at the beginning of the input text stream (index 0) and matches
the contents of the input stream with the tokens specifying the barcode data fields. All tokens MUST
be enclosed by curly braces, '{'and '}'.
The following table describes the tokens used to instruction the barcode parser where items of data
are located within an input text stream from a barcode scanner:
