SINUMERIK 840C, OEM Version for Windows (BA)
(see: Starting the WEdit editor)
When you have created a new file or made changes to an existing file, you can
save the data using the commands Save and Save As... from the File menu. It
is advisable to save files regularly during editing, in order to minimize the loss
of data in the event of a power failure or other fault.
To save a new file (name: "untitled") or to save an edited file under another
name:
• Select Save As... from the File menu if you want to store a new file (Name:
"unknown") or an existing file under a different name. The "WEdit - Save
As..." dialog box appears.

• Enter a valid DOS name for a part program in the file name box (8
characters.3 characters). The file is only displayed in the left-hand list field
of the data manager if a valid NCK name has been entered. Otherwise the
file is merely displayed in the right-hand list field and can therefore not be
transferred to the NCK memory.
• Select the "OK" button.
To save an existing file:
• Select Save from the File menu.
The function Save and load can be applied to a part program file (MPF or SPF
file) being executed which is not located in the NC program memory and the
contents of which have been modified.
The modified file is both stored in the mass storage and transferred to the NC
part program memory.
• Select Save and load from the File menu.
