5 Installation and Wiring

Installing Units

The NX-series Safety Control Units are installed in the same way as the NX Units. This section
describes how to install and remove NX Units and how to attach markers.
Refer to the user's manual of the Communications Coupler Unit for information on preparations of
installation and installation in a control panel.

Installing NX Units

Use the following procedure to mount NX Units to each other.
Always turn OFF the power supply before mounting any Unit. Always mount only one NX Unit at a time.
If you try to mount multiple NX Units while they are connected to each other, the NX Units may separate
from each other and fall.
Precautions for Safe Use
• Do not apply labels or tape to the NX Units. When the NX Unit is installed or removed, adhe-
sive or scraps may adhere to the pins in the NX bus connector, which may result in malfunc-
tions.
• Do not touch the pins in the NX bus connector on the Unit. Dirt may adhere to the pins in the
NX bus connector, which may result in malfunctions.

• Do not write anything with ink within the restricted region that is shown in the following figure.
Also do not get this area dirty. When the Unit is installed or removed, ink or dirt may adhere
to the pins in the NX bus connector, which may result in malfunctions in the Slave Terminal.
