OPTIONAL MOTOR BRAKE

Note: Although disassembly of the brake is outlined,
individual brake components are not available. If
any one brake component is faulty then the brake
is replaced as an assembly.

Remove and Disassemble

1: Disconnect the harness from the brake coil.
2: Remove the rubber sealing band from around the
brake.
3: Install two 1/4-20 x 1-1/4 screws to hold the brake
assembly together.
4: Insert a hex key through the 3 access holes
and remove the three screws holding the brake
assembly to the motor.
5: Slightly loosen the three adjuster nuts.
6: Remove the three flat head screws and remove
the outer pressure plate and friction hub.
7: Remove the three adjuster nuts
8: Remove the two 1/4 retaining bolts and remove the inner pressure plate.
9: Remove the springs from the magnet coil.

Assemble and Install

1: Thoroughly clean and inspect all components. Make sure there is no debris in the spring bores.
2: Install the springs.
3: Place the inner pressure plate onto the springs and install two 1/4-20 x 1-1/4 retaining bolts. Sequentially
tighten the two bolts until the plate is against the coil fully but they do not need to be torqued down.
4: Install the three adjuster nuts finger tight to the pressure plate.
5: Place the friction hub into the coil/plate assembly.
6: Place the outer pressure plate on top of the friction hub and install the three flat head screws. Do not torque
down at this time. They must be left a bit loose to allow for adjustment.
7: Remove the 2 retaining bolts.
8: Refer to the brake section for adjustment of the brake.
