PARKING BRAKE, HAND BRAKE

The brake pads and rotor should be inspected anytime the
park brake requires adjustment.
Service Limits
Refer to table at the end of this chapter.

Replace Pads

1: Remove the brake from the motor.
2: Remove the two assembly bolts
Note: Be sure to catch all small parts that may fall out.
3: Remove the inner and outer brake pads, Springs, washer, shims, lever arm and steel balls.
4: Check the steel balls for any signs of wear or damage and replace as required.
5: Inspect the ball seats in the lever and the stationary actuator for wear and replace as required.
6: Thoroughly clean all components.
7: Temporarily reassemble WITHOUT the springs or shims.
8: Measure the gap between the pads. If not between 0.193 and 0.203 inches (4.90-5.15 mm) then
disassemble and add shims as required between the washer and inner pad.
9: When the gap is correct, reassemble with the springs and tighten the assembly bolts to the torque listed in
the Hardware Torque table at the end of this section.
10: Install the brake assembly on the vehicle.
11: Check brake adjustment.
12: Reconnect the battery and remove the blocks from the wheel.
