Testing lambda probe heater

Special tools, testers and aids required
♦ Test box V.A.G 1598/22
♦ Hand-held multimeter, e.g. V.A.G 1526 A or
multimeter V.A.G 1715
♦ Adapter cable set V.A.G 1594 A
♦ Diode test lamp, e.g. V.A.G 1527
♦ Current flow diagram
Test condition
K l Fuse 43 must be o.k.
Testing voltage supply
-
Unplug the 4-pin connector to the lambda
probe (G39).
K -
Use the auxiliary cables to connect the
multimeter to contacts 1 + 2 of the connector
for voltage measurement.
Note:
Carry out the measurement at room tempe-
rature. The resistance rises sharply even if there
is only a slight increase in temperature.
-
If a fault is determined, replace the lambda
probe.
If the heating element has continuity, test the
voltage supply of the lambda probe heater:
K -
Use the auxiliary cables to connect the
multimeter to contacts 1 and 2 of the
connector to the wiring loom.
-
Start engine and run for a few minutes.
