4.8 Exposing dye stained samples and films (White Epi light)

This section describes how to expose dye-stained samples using white Epi illumination.
For some applications, such as imaging gels stained with Coomassie Blue dye, results may not be
optimal using the white epi light. If the White trans tray is available, see
samples and films (Trans illumination), on page 55
Place a sample on the Epi tray. Put the tray in the ImageQuant LAS 4000 then close the door.

• Prior to exposure, click on the Digitiza-
tion Epi-illumination tab in Edit:Pref-
erence and make sure that YES is se-
lected for Invert Pixel-data. If this is
set to NO, the data will not be inverted
and the quantitative value will be re-
versed.
