Replacing a Fan Module

1. Observe the safety and ESD precautions listed at the beginning of this
chapter.
2. Remove the front door, rear access cover and front access cover following
procedures previously described in this chapter.
3. Grasp the failed fan module and pull it straight out of the foam baffle. See
Figure 4-32.
4. Insert the replacement fan module into the empty slot of the fan assembly so
that the fan connector mates with the connector on the fan board.
5. Press down firmly to seat the fan module fully into the connector.
6. Check the fan status LED for the replacement fan. If the installation was
successful, the indicator will not be lit.
7. Install the front access cover, rear access cover and front panel following
procedures previously described in this chapter.
