Removing a PCI Add-In Board from a Non-Hot-Plug Slot

To remove a PCI add-in board from a non-hot-plug slot:
1. Disconnect the AC power cords from the power source or wall outlets.
2. Turn off all peripheral devices connected to the system.
3. Remove the rear access cover and the system board access cover following
procedures previously described in this chapter.
4. Disconnect all cables from the PCI board.
5. Release the latches on the front and rear retention mechanisms.
6. Grasp the board by the top edge or corners, carefully pull it out of the
connector, and slide it free of the retention bracket.
7. If you are installing a new board, follow the instructions described in the last
procedure. If you are not installing another PCI add-in board, continue with
the next step below.
8. Install a slot cover over the vacant slot in the back panel.
9. Install the system board access cover and the rear access cover.
10. Turn on any peripheral devices connected to the system.
11. Connect the power cord and turn on power to the server.
