Per-Service Accounting
The per-service accounting feature allows RADIUS to track when services become active and stop
within a subscriber session. Using this feature, the router includes all activated services for the session
in a single accounting start message.
RADIUS uses Access-Accept and change of authorization (CoA) messages to:
The CoA client on the ISG uses RADIUS Attribute 44, Account-Session-ID, to identify the session for
which services are requested. For example, when a subscriber selects a new service and enters a
username and password to access that service, the CoA client on the ISG sends a CoA Request:Service
Request message to RADIUS with the username and password included, and the Account-Session-ID of
the session.

Relays the Accounting-Start message included in the message when you enable per-service
accounting on the router.
If a service starts after the router sends the Accounting-Start message (for example, the RADIUS
server sends an Access-Accept message to activate a service), the router sends an accounting session
update and includes in the message all of the activated services.
When a session ends, the router sends an Accounting-Stop message and includes all of the currently
active services in the message.
