Monitoring the Device

Interpreting nonport-side LEDs

TABLE 25 Ethernet port status LED in default mode
LED color Status of the hardware
Off A link is not established with the remote port.
Steady green The port has established a valid link at 1000 Mbps.
Flashing green The port has established a valid link at 1000 Mbps. Flashing indicates
the port is transmitting and receiving user packets.
Steady amber The port has established a valid link at 10 or 100 Mbps.
Flashing amber The port has established a valid link at 10 or 100 Mbps. Flashing
indicates the port is transmitting and receiving user packets.
Interpreting nonport-side LEDs
There are no LEDs found on the nonport-side view of the Ruckus ICX 7150 devices.

Pinging an IP address

To verify that a device can reach another device through the network, enter a command similar to the following at any level of the CLI.
device> ping 10.33.4.7
NOTE
If you address the ping to the IP broadcast address, the device lists the first four responses.

Tracing a route

To determine the path through which a device can reach another device, enter a command similar to the following at any level of the CLI on
the device.
device> traceroute 10.33.4.7

Recommended action
• Verify that the connection to the other network
device has been properly made. Also, make
certain that the other network device is
powered on and operating correctly.
• Be sure the cable is plugged into both the
device and the corresponding device.
• Verify that the proper cable type is used and its
length does not exceed specified limits.
• Check the adapter on the attached device and
cable connections for possible defects.
Replace the defective adapter or cable if
necessary.
• Verify that the port has not been disabled
through a configuration change. You can use
the CLI. If you have configured an IP address
on the device, you also can use the Web
management interface or Brocade Network
Advisor.
• If the other actions do not resolve the problem,
try using a different port or a different cable.
