21.5 Classifier Example

The following screen shows an exam ple where you configure a classifier t hat ident ifies all t raffic
from MAC address 00: 50: ba: ad: 4f: 81 on port 2.
Aft er you have configured a classifier, you can configure a policy ( in t he Policy screen) t o define
act ion( s) on t he classified t raffic flow.
Chapter 21 Classifier
DESCRIPTION
Select m a n u a l t o have classifier rules applied according t o t he weight of each rule you configured
in Adva n ce d Applica t ion > Cla ssifie r > Cla ssifie r Con figu r a t ion .
Alt ernat ively, select a u t o t o have classifier rules applied according t o t he layer of t he it em
configured in t he rule. Layer- 4 it em s have t he highest priorit y, and layer- 2 it em s has t he lowest
priorit y. For exam ple, you configure a layer- 2 it em ( VLAN I D) in classifier A and configure a layer-
3 it em ( source I P address) in classifier B. When an incom ing packet m at ches bot h classifier rules,
classifier B has priorit y over classifer A.
Select t his t o allow t he Swit ch t o creat e a log when packet s m at ch a classifier rule during a
defined t im e int erval.
Select t he lengt h of t he t im e period ( in seconds) t o count m at ched packet s for a classifier rule.
Ent er an int eger from 0- 65535. 0 m eans t hat no logging is done.
Click Apply t o save your changes t o t he Swit ch's run- t im e m em ory. The Swit ch loses t hese
changes if it is t urned off or loses power, so use t he Sa ve link on t he t op navigat ion panel t o save
your changes t o t he non- volat ile m em ory when you are done configuring.
Click Ca n ce l t o begin configuring t his screen afresh.
