Ping Test
I Pv4
Select t his opt ion if you want t o ping an I Pv4 address, and select vla n t o specify t he I D
num ber of t he VLAN t o which t he Swit ch is t o send ping request s. Ot herwise, select - t o
send ping request s t o all VLANs on t he Swit ch.
I Pv6
Select t his opt ion if you want t o ping an I Pv6 address. You can also select vla n and
specify t he I D num ber of t he VLAN t o which t he Swit ch is t o send ping request s.
Ot herwise, select - t o send ping request s t o all VLANs on t he Swit ch.
Count
Ent er t he num ber of I CMP Echo Request ( ping) m essages t he Swit ch cont inuously sends.
I P Address/
Type t he I P address or host nam e of a device t hat you want t o ping in order t o t est a
Host Nam e
connect ion.
Click Pin g t o have t he Swit ch ping t he I P address.
Trace Rout e Test
I Pv4
Select t his opt ion if you want t o t race t he rout e packet s t ake t o a device wit h an I Pv4
address, and select vla n t o specify t he I D num ber of t he VLAN on which t he Swit ch
t races t he pat h. Ot herwise, select - t o t race t he pat h on any VLAN.
Note: The device to which you want to run a traceroute must belong to the VLAN you
I Pv6
Select t his opt ion if you want t o t race t he rout e packet s t ake t o a device wit h an I Pv6
address.
TTL
Ent er t he Tim e To Live ( TTL) value for t he I CMP Echo Request packet s. This is t o set t he
m axim um num ber of t he hops ( rout ers) a packet can t ravel t hrough. Each rout er along
t he pat h will decrem ent t he TTL value by one and forward t he packet s. When t he TTL
value becom es zero and t he dest inat ion is not found, t he rout er drops t he packet s and
inform s t he sender.
Wait Tim e
Specify how m any seconds t he Swit ch wait s for a response t o a probe before running
anot her t racerout e.
Queries
Specify how m any t im es t he Swit ch perform s t he t racerout e funct ion.
I P Address/
Ent er t he I P address or host nam e of a device t o which you want t o perform a
Host Nam e
t racerout e.
Click Tr a ce Rou t e t o have t he Swit ch perform t he t racerout e funct ion. This det erm ines
t he pat h a packet t akes t o t he specified device.
Et hernet Port Test
Ent er a port num ber and click Por t Te st t o perform an int ernal loopback t est .
Cable Diagnost ics
Ent er a port num ber and click D ia gnose t o perform a physical wire- pair t est of t he
Et hernet connect ions on t he specified port ( s) . The following fields display when you
diagnose a port .
Port
This is t he num ber of t he physical Et hernet port on t he Swit ch.
Channel
An Et hernet cable usually has four pairs of wires. A 10BASE-T or 100BASE-TX port only
use and t est t wo pairs, while a 1000BASE-T port requires all four pairs.
This displays t he descript ive nam e of t he wire- pair in t he cable.
Pair st at us
Ok : The physical connect ion bet ween t he wire- pair is okay.
Ope n : There is no physical connect ion ( an open circuit det ect ed) bet ween t he wire- pair.
Shor t : There is an short circuit det ect ed bet ween t he wire- pair.
Un k n ow n : The Swit ch failed t o run cable diagnost ics on t he cable connect ed t his port .
Un su ppor t e d: The port is a fiber port or it is not act ive.
