Power on the server, start the SETUP utility, select [Boot] → [Hard Disk], and set the
6.
boot priority in the submenu.
This operation is necessary because installing an additional hard disk drive clears the
current setting of the boot priority.
7.
Install the front bezel you removed in step 2.
When the hard disks are in the disk array configuration, you can use the auto-rebuild feature to
restore the data that was on the removed hard disk drive.
The auto-rebuild feature is available for the RAID1, RAID5, or RAID0+1 disk array
configurations.
Auto-rebuild is carried out when you hot-swap a failed hard disk with a new one (replacing the
disk drive with a new one while the server is powered up). The DISK lamp flashes green and
amber alternatively to indicate the auto-rebuild is in process.
IMPORTANT:
When auto-rebuild fails, the DISK lamp lights amber. Remove and
install the hard disk again to restart auto-rebuild.
If the disk array monitoring utility is installed, it may display or act
as follows. If the DISK lamp does not light in amber after
auto-rebuild, however, auto-rebuild has completed successfully.
– Displays "Rebuild was cancelled" on the screen while
auto-rebuild is in progress.
– Appears to stop and restart auto-rebuild.
Observe the following notes for auto-rebuild.
Do not power off the server during the period of time between a hard disk error and
completion of auto-rebuild.
When you removed a hard disk, wait at least 90 seconds before re-installing the hard
disk.
Do not replace another hard disk while rebuilding is in progress. (The DISK lamp
flashes in green and amber alternatively while rebuilding the hard disk.)
Perform the above procedure when replacing the hard disk drive in the flex bay.
