Running NEC Storage NS420 Configuration Utility
Use a Windows workstation that is logged onto the network where the NEC Storage
NS420 unit is connected. Insert the NEC Storage NS420 Management/Maintenance
CD into your CD- ROM drive. If the "NEC Storage NS Series" screen does not appear,
the auto- insert notification for the CD has been turned off. In this case, use Windows
Explorer to launch the setup program from the CD. The setup program is located in the
imenu directory.
Preparing to Setup NEC Storage NS420 via a floppy disk
To setup NEC Storage NS420 via a floppy disk, prepare the following information to be
assigned to embedded LAN port of NEC Storage NS420 and a formatted 3.5-inch
floppy disk (1.44MB).
Computer name
Administrator password
Workgroup name (if belonging to a workgroup)
Domain name (if belonging to a domain)
Domain administrator account and password (if belonging to a domain)
IP address and mask value
Default gateway
IP address of the DNS server
Product key
Creating a Setup Disk
Write NEC Storage NS420 setup information to the prepared floppy disk on the
machine on which Windows 95/98/Me/2000 or Windows NT 4.0 runs.
1. To activate the Configuration Utility, Select [Configuration Utility] in the install
menu, then [Run the configuration Utility to Create a setup diskette].
