Remote Management using MWA
These steps will help you to install MWA client on a Management workstation and to
setup the BMC in order to remote manage your NEC Storage NS420
Installing MWA
Insert the NEC Storage NS420 Management/Maintenance CD into your CD- ROM
drive.
When the NEC Express5800 Series screen appears, click the NEC MWA button. The
wizard will guide you through the installation process.
Initializing NEC Storage NS420 BMC in LAN Connection Mode
1. Run MWA in the management computer.
2. Insert a formatted floppy disk (1.44MB) into the floppy disk drive of the
management computer.
3. Select [Configuration] from the [File] menu of MWA, point to [New] to display the
[Select a model (New)] dialog box, put a checkmark next to [Write data to FD], and
then select [Express5800/NEC Storage NS420]. The [Easy configuration for
RomPilot & BMC] dialog box appears. Write the setup information under the
following file name onto the floppy disk.

4. Set the following when the [Properties] dialog box appears:
<[Alert Notifications] page>
5. Remove a check mark from [Use Default Settings], and check Reset of [Activate].
6. Put a check mark to [Go MWA mode] of [Action at RomPilot Connect] of MWA.
7. Select [Open] from the [File] menu of MWA, select the target server to open the
server window, and then right-click in the window. The pop-up menu appears
showing [Action at RomPilot Connect].
8. Insert the Express Maintenance Utilities CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive of NEC
Storage NS420, and insert the floppy disk containing the setup information
(NICS_RC.CFG) into the floppy disk drive.
9. Turn the power off, and turn it on to restart NEC Storage NS420.
10. The management computer screen displays the main menu after reboot processing
is performed once. The management computer is now ready to execute Express
Maintenance Utilities.
