Problem and Solution
An error has occurred. This may be a hardware error (in the
main board or a module installed in an expansion slot that is
not installed properly or has experienced a self-test fault) or a
software fault.
If general troubleshooting tips (listed above this table) do not
help, try the following:
– Reset the switch by pressing the "Reset" button on the
front of the switch, or by power cycling the switch.
– Attach a console to the switch (see Using the Console
Interface on page 24) and configure it to operate at 9600
baud. Then, reset the switch again. Messages should
appear on the console screen identifying the error condi-
tion. If the messages indicate that an expansion module is a
source of problem, power the switch off, remove the mod-
ule, and power the switch on again.
If no messages are visible, the switch may have failed.
Contact Olicom Technical Support for assistance.
A port is not connected to the network.
If general troubleshooting tips (listed above this table) do not
help, try the following:
– For the indicated port, check that both ends of the cabling,
at the switch and the other connected device, are properly
connected.
– Verify that the connected device and switch are both
powered on and operating correctly.
– Verify that you have used the correct cable type for the
connection.
– Verify that the port has not been disabled through a switch
configuration change. You can use the console interface or
the web-browser interface to determine the state of the port
and re-enable the port if necessary.
If the above actions do not solve the problem, the port or the
cable may be faulty, so try using a different port or a different
cable.
