A.4.2 Fiber-Optic Cables
100 Base-FX Ports
Fiber-optic cables connected to the ports on the 100 Base-FX UEM that can be
installed in the switch must be 1300 nm wavelength, multimode 50/125µm or 100/
140 µm cable conforming to the ISO/IEC 793-2 type B1, and ITU-T G.652
standards, and the cables must have MTRJ-type connectors.
A.4.3 Cabling Recommendations
Table 9 contains the maximum supported cable lengths. The maximum lengths
depend on the relevant media characteristics. It is good practice to follow the
cabling standards guidelines when installing building cabling to help ensure a
longer useful life for your cabling infrastructure, migration to new technologies,
and maximum flexibility for the network configuration.
