3.11 How to End a Console Session

The process of ending the console session depends on whether, during the console
session, you have made any changes to the switch configuration that require a
reboot of the switch to activate.
1. If you have not made configuration changes in the current session that require a
switch reboot to activate, exit from the terminal program by choosing the close
item from the main menu or from the console menu, turn off the terminal, or
quit from the Telnet session.
2. If you have made configuration changes that require a switch reboot, follow
the sequence described in System Parameters section in the Olicom CrossFire
8720 Fast Ethernet Layer 3 Switch Reference Guide. Rebooting the switch
terminates the console session, and, if you are using Telnet, disconnects the
Telnet session.
3. Exit from the terminal program, turn off the terminal, or close the Telnet
application program.
4. For security reasons an idle console session may be terminated automatically.
This action is controlled by the inactivity timeout item available from the
console. To disable the feature, use:
console set inactivity timeout off
