Chapter 1: Introduction to the AERO.10

1.1. Introduction

Congratulations on your purchase of the Linear Acoustic AERO.10 DTV Audio
Processor! It is a state-of-the-art, adaptive, multiband, broadcast audio/loudness
processor.
This user guide is intended to be read while in front of a running AERO.10 unit. It is
most helpful if the source(s) that will be used is actually connected to the AERO.10.
Doing this provides feedback to the user, via the meters and IP audio monitoring,
about the configuration changes being made.
To make learning your way around the AERO.10 as useful and rewarding as
possible, there is some information that you should have at hand at you start:
• The IP address and subnet mask intended to be assigned to the AERO.10.
• Any gateway and DNS information for the network it will be attached to.
• NTP server address(s).
• The IP address of the PC that will be used to connect to the AERO.10.
• If using an SDI Input, which channels of the SDI input stream contain the
audio program(s) to be processed.
• If outputting signals via the SDI Output, which channels of the SDI Output
stream the loudness controlled audio program(s) are to be embedded in.
Having this information will allow you to configure the unit for use as you learn to
navigate the AERO.10 using both the front panel and NfRemote.

1.2. Overview

The AERO.10 can apply loudness control and upmixing to ten input channels. It
outputs 5.1 processed channels, and two separate two-channel programs. The two
stereo output programs can be downmixes of the 5.1, independent stereo programs,
or dual mono outputs of two different single channel sources.
The AERO.10 includes the following features:
• Program configurations: 5.1+2+2 or 2+2+2 with support for Local input on
one of the 2-ch inputs
• AEROMAX
multiband loudness processing, which provides ATSC, ITU and
®
EBU compliance.
